A Hepatitis B surface total antibodies test measures the presence of antibodies against the Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in the blood. This test detects both the Hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs) and the Hepatitis B core antibody (anti-HBc). A positive result generally indicates either past exposure to the virus or successful vaccination. It helps determine immunity status, assess recovery from a Hepatitis B infection, or confirm that the vaccination series was effective.
