Popular health packages and diagnostic profiles
The MTB DNA PCR test measures the presence of DNA from *Mycobacterium tuberculosis* (MTB) in a sample. This polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test is used to detect the genetic material of the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis (TB). It is a highly sensitive and specific method for diagnosing TB, especially in cases where conventional tests, like sputum smear microscopy or culture, are inconclusive. A positive result indicates an active TB infection, allowing for timely treatment and management.
The anti-sperm antibodies (ASA) test measures the presence of antibodies that target and bind to sperm. These antibodies can be produced by either the male or female immune system and may interfere with the sperm's ability to move and fertilize an egg. In males, the immune system may mistakenly identify sperm as harmful invaders and produce antibodies against them, often due to injury, surgery, infection, or a breakdown of the blood-testis barrier. In females, anti-sperm antibodies can develop in response to exposure to sperm, possibly affecting fertility by inhibiting sperm movement through the cervical mucus or attacking sperm before it reaches the egg. The ASA test is used in the evaluation of infertility, particularly when no other cause is identified. Elevated levels of anti-sperm antibodies can indicate an immune response that may contribute to difficulties in conceiving, guiding appropriate treatment options to improve the chances of successful fertilization.
An allergy to Aspergillus fumigatus test measures the level of specific Immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies in the blood that react to the Aspergillus fumigatus fungus. Elevated IgE levels indicate an allergic sensitization to this fungus, which can cause respiratory issues such as allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) or exacerbate asthma. The test helps diagnose and manage allergic reactions to Aspergillus fumigatus by identifying sensitization and guiding appropriate treatment to reduce symptoms and improve respiratory health.
