Antiphospholipid Antibody Panel includes tests such as Cardiolipin Antibodies (IgG & IgM), Phospholipid Antibodies (IgG & IgM), and Lupus Anticoagulant (DRVVT). These tests detect autoantibodies that mistakenly target phospholipids in cell membranes. They are primarily associated with Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS), an autoimmune disorder that increases the risk of abnormal blood clot formation. These antibodies can lead to venous or arterial thrombosis, recurrent miscarriages, and other pregnancy complications. Among them, IgG antibodies are considered more clinically significant, while IgM antibodies may sometimes be temporary or less specific. Lupus anticoagulant testing helps identify clotting abnormalities despite prolonged clotting time in lab tests. The panel is performed using blood samples (serum or citrated plasma), and fasting is not required. If any result is positive, repeat testing after at least 12 weeks is recommended to confirm persistence and guide proper diagnosis and treatment.
